Telephone Reassurance

West Island Citizen Advocacy has for the last 20 years provided a Telephone Reassurance program for people who live alone and are at risk of suffering a medical emergency. Such a person, called a protégé is matched with a volunteer advocate who phones the protégé at a mutually convenient time for a few minutes each day, 7 days a week. If there is no response after several tries, a pre-arranged contact person is called to go and investigate. If no contact person is available, emergency service are sent. When the regular phoner is away, on holiday for example, West Island Citizen Advocacy finds a temporary replacement phoner for the protégé.
